After defying the odds during every round of the playoffs on their way to the 2024 NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks proved to be a legitimate title contender as Western Conference champions.

Unfortunately for Dallas, the Boston Celtics were more experienced, had the better all-around roster, and were ready for anything the Mavericks threw at them during the Finals.

In the aftermath of losing the NBA title to the Celtics in five games, the Mavericks needed to figure out what to do this offseason to close the gap. They already made a solid move with the addition of four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson as a free agent.

With Thompson on board as its big swing this summer, Dallas is now looking for a player to sign with their mid-level exception and the veteran’s minimum. Mavericks forward Markeef Morris said the team should go after his brother Marcus Morris, who played for the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers last season.

“Marcus Morris would be perfect!” Markeef Morris wrote.

At this point in time, with the Mavericks determined to be a perennial title contender moving forward, they likely also will look at some of the other players on this list for a possible veteran minimum contract.

There’s been talk of the Mavericks wanting to reunite with Spencer Dinwiddie, who could accept the minimum at this point in his career, especially with the prospect of competing for an NBA title he has yet to win.
