Max Muncy of the Los Angeles Dodgers is having one of the most atypical seasons a batter can have.

He is hitting below the “Mendoza line” (which is a .200 batting average) but showing incredible power.

As of Friday afternoon, the talented infielder is hitting .195/.336/.483 with 28 home runs and an .819 OPS.

As his OPS proves, he has been an asset for the Dodgers this season and is part of a special offense that also includes Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, JD Martinez, Will Smith, James Outman, and other talented performers.

“Max Muncy now has 28 HRs on the year. Every full season that Max has been healthy with the Dodgers he’s hit 30+ home runs and he’ll do it again this year. Teams would line up around the block for that production. Bounce-back year for Muncy in 2023,” Dodgers insider Doug McKain tweeted.

Muncy is somehow underrated as a hitter because his batting average finishes are usually very low.

But there is more to offensive production than batting average.

Muncy is not only a power threat, but also an on-base machine.

His .336 is rock-solid considering his low average, and he is slugging almost .500.

He is also very versatile, capable of playing anywhere in the infield except for shortstop.

The Dodgers are truly lucky to have him and yes, as McKain says, teams would line up around the block for that production.

At least savvy teams would, because we all know that all MLB organizations aren’t run the same.

While people criticize, Muncy keeps doing what he does best: excel as an offensive producer.
