Just when you think the New York Mets‘ season cannot get any worse, they find a new way to lose.
On Sunday, the Mets held a 6-3 lead entering the eighth inning against the Philadelphia Phillies.
But their bullpen proceeded to blow the lead in the worst way possible.
It took the Phillies only one hit to take the lead.
The Mets relievers walked three batters, had one reach by error, and hit two more batters to lose the lead.
According to Awful Announcing, the Mets announcers were shocked by this total meltdown.
Here’s how the Phillies’ go-ahead HBP looked and sounded on the Mets broadcast.

This was the worst loss of the season for the Mets.
With a three-run lead in the eighth inning, that is a game no team can afford to lose.
But, the Mets have been a disaster all season long.
Their record dropped to 35-42 on the year and they are now 15 games out of first place in the NL East.
Their only hope of making a run for the playoffs will be via the Wild Card.
It will be interesting to see what moves the Mets intend to make at the trade deadline.
They could always choose to be sellers and build for next season if they think the hole they are in is insurmountable.
Each season the Mets enter with World Series aspirations.
But it appears this will be another year will they fall short of their goal.
It should surprise no one if the Mets decided to make some major changes to their coaching staff if they continue down this path.
