Mets Receive A Positive Tommy Pham Update

Tommy Pham has been one of the best players on the New York Mets roster this season.

He has slashed a cool .277/.350/.485 with nine home runs, 10 stolen bases, and an .835 OPS.

He has been one of the few good, consistent sources of offense in an otherwise forgettable year for the Mets.

Pham had to be removed from the Mets’ final first-half game against the San Diego Padres on Sunday with a groin injury.

That fired off the alarms in Queens, as the 42-48 Mets cannot afford to lose Pham for an extended period of time.

On top of that, groin injuries are considered particularly tricky when it comes to full recovery and re-aggravation.

Fortunately for New York, Mike Puma of the New York Post reported that imaging on Pham’s groin didn’t show anything of note.

Imaging on Tommy Pham’a groin came back negative, say the Mets. He will be reevaluated Wednesday.

Negative means no tears or strains, so Pham should be able to get back in the Mets lineup as soon as the second half is underway, on Friday.

He will need to pass Wednesday’s test, though.

Pham will be re-evaluated on Wednesday, and if the Mets are not pleased with his progression, they can always have him rest for a couple of days.

Avoiding major injury on Pham’s groin is a major win for the Mets, who aren’t set on their deadline approach at this time.

For all we know, they could be buyers, sellers, or stay put.

The most likely scenario, however, has them trying to sneak into the postseason somehow.

They still might have a shot, but they need Pham healthy for that.
