The modern NBA has drawn some criticism from former players and older fans because of the perceived lack of defense that’s played.

During the 2023-24 NBA season, there have been some massive offensive explosions from star players that lend evidence to the idea that scoring’s easier than ever.

Teams have placed a lot of emphasis on 3-point shooting and getting to the free throw line because analytically they’re the best shots to take.

However, that’s seemingly watered down playbooks to nothing more than high pick and rolls to generate the same sort of looks each time down the floor.

There have been plenty of former players that have claimed they could score at will if they were playing in today’s game.

Michael Beasley recently made an incredibly bold claim when he said he could average 25 points on just 10 shots a game via The OGs Show.

“They don’t work on their game no more,” Beasley said.

Beasley argued that his points would come off of free throws and 3-pointers and that he would be able to get away with it because players are eager to get up and down the floor without playing much defense.

It’s an absurd assumption for even someone like Beasley to make because that would require some historical efficiency from the field.

At his peak, Beasley was known as a three-level scorer though he could never quite put it all together in the NBA.

He might see some success had he been playing today, but to say he would average 25 points per game is nothing more than a fantasy.
