As they always seem to do, the Dallas Cowboys collapsed in the playoffs after a strong regular season, as they fell behind 27-0 late in the second quarter of the Wild Card round and lost to the Green Bay Packers.
While their defense fell apart in that game, they also have another need: a stronger ground game.
On FS1’s “Undisputed,” Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, a Cowboys legend, said he hopes his old team will sign star running back Derrick Henry.

Henry will be one of a few intriguing free-agent running backs this offseason, and he is sure to have multiple suitors.
He has made the Pro Bowl in four of the last five seasons with the Tennessee Titans, and this year he ran for 1,167 yards and 12 touchdowns.
The problem is that Henry recently turned 30 years of age, and his efficiency has declined over the last couple of seasons, especially since he suffered a Jones fracture in 2021.
Running backs historically suffer a major drop-off in their production around age 30, and it remains to be seen if a team will offer him a sizable contract, especially given the fact that the running back market across the NFL has cratered.
In 2023, Tony Pollard, Dallas’ new full-time starting RB, ran for 1,005 yards and six touchdowns, but he had nine touchdowns in 2022 while his yards per rush attempt average went from 5.2 to 4.0.
The Cowboys were merely average in rushing offense, which made their overall offense easier to defend at the end of the day.
