There were times last season when the Dallas Cowboys looked incredible and perhaps even dominant, especially on the defensive side of the football.
But there was a bit of concern going into their wild-card playoff matchup against the Green Bay Packers, and for good reason, as they fell behind 27-0 in the first half and lost 48-32.
It was a total embarrassment for the once-proud franchise that has boasted one of the NFL’s most talented rosters over the last few years and won 12 games in each of the last three seasons.
Team legend Michael Irvin said on “The Jim Rome Show” that, more than because of poor defense or another poor performance from quarterback Dak Prescott, Dallas lost because it didn’t play with the type of effort or desire that’s needed in the playoffs.
“You gotta be willing to give everything for it and those guys were not. Green Bay was and it was a sad day for Dallas.”

Dallas ranked fifth in points and total yards allowed and held their opponents to 10 or fewer points six times in the regular season, but that defense was missing in action that Sunday in January versus Green Bay.
Young upstart quarterback Jordan Love completed 16 of 21 passes and threw three touchdown passes and no interceptions without getting sacked even once.
Meanwhile, Green Bay running back Aaron Jones, who is solid but hardly prolific, converted 21 carries into 118 yards and three touchdowns, and his first two touchdowns set an ominous tone for the game, as did Prescott’s two first-half interceptions.
With Prescott, wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and pass rusher Micah Parsons in line for contract extensions, the Cowboys made few offseason moves, and their roster now has some real holes as training camp is about to open.
That means any lack of effort or desire this fall and winter could have even worse consequences for them.
