New Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh set lofty goals for himself and his new team in his introductory press conference this week.
The former Michigan Wolverines and San Francisco 49ers head coach told reporters that his goal is to win multiple Super Bowls in Los Angeles – a bold statement but not one that the team, its players, and its fans wouldn’t want to hear from Harbaugh.
The question now becomes: Can Harbaugh back it up?
Former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver and current analyst Michael Irvin said Friday that Harbaugh can and will compete in Los Angeles, via “Undisputed.”
“He will be in the hunt this year,” Irvin said. “And by next year, he’s going to be in the hunt every year that he is there.”

The Chargers had one of the most exciting rosters in 2023 with quarterback Justin Herbert at the helm and talent on offense and defense.
But injuries and poor production thwarted their ability to contend with the Kansas City Chiefs and now the Chargers will be picking at the No. 5 spot in the 2024 NFL Draft this spring.
The team has some issues to resolve, but should remain a top unit in the AFC if they can stay healthy and fix the holes on their roster.
Harbaugh’s presence should help from a coaching perspective, too, after he has successful stints at Michigan and with the 49ers over the past 15 years on the sidelines.
He led Michigan to a national championship in 2023 and led the 49ers to a Super Bowl appearance in 2012.
Now, he just has to replicate that success in Los Angeles.
