Jerry Rice is considered the greatest wide receiver in NFL history and for very good reason.

Now, his son will look to carry his torch in the league.

USC star Brenden Rice recently showed off his speed at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Unsurprisingly, his father was in attendance, but he wasn’t the only legendary wide receiver getting a glimpse.

Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin took to Twitter to share a pic of himself, Brenden and Rice, joking that Jerry’s son runs the bang 8 like him and not like his father.

What a great gift from God to watch Jerry Rice watch his son Brandon at the ⁦@NFL⁩ Combine. I told him and Jerry he runs that bang 8 like me, not like his Pop. CONGRATS AND GOOD LUCK YOUNG BEAST!! pic.twitter.com/Hfa60n5DrD

The 21-year-old is currently projected to be a day-two pick.

He could be a third-round pick, and obviously, it would be nice to see him go to the San Francisco 49ers.

Brenden completed the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds, which wasn’t top-notch, but it was still better than his father, who reportedly ran it in 4.71 seconds.

Needless to say, Jerry wasn’t a burner or the fastest guy on the field, but that never stopped him from getting an edge over every single defensive back tasked with defending him.

Brenden is more athletically imposing and stronger than Jerry was at this point in his career, but he has yet to showcase the same kind of route-running skills.

Even so, if he turns out to be just one-third as good as his father was, he’s definitely going to be just fine in the NFL.
