Wednesday night was a historic night for Michael Lorenzen, one of the newest additions to the Philadelphia Phillies roster.

The defending National League champions acquired the veteran right-hander from the Detroit Tigers at the trade deadline to help bolster their starting rotation.

He made his home debut for the Phillies on Wednesday and threw the 14th no-hitter in team history.

Lorenzen also joined some historic company as well, becoming the eighth pitcher in Major League history to throw a no-hitter after switching teams in the middle of the season, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Sarah Langs of MLB.com pointed this out on Twitter.

The last pitcher to accomplish this feat was right-hander Mike Fiers.

He began the 2015 season with the Milwaukee Brewers, but was ultimately traded to the Houston Astros at the deadline.

His no-hitter came on August 21 of that year.

The list also includes pitchers such as Hoyt Wilhelm and Ray Caldwell, among other pitchers.

Wilhelm threw his no-hitter on September 20, 1958 with the Baltimore Orioles after having been traded from the Cleveland Indians.

Caldwell accomplished the feat on September 10, 1919 with the Indians after being acquired earlier in the season from Boston.

And so, Lorenzen has officially become part of an elite list of pitchers who have thrown no-hitters after being traded mid-season.

It was also just Lorenzen’s second start with the Phillies and his first in front of the home crowd at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies beat the Washington Nationals by a final score of 7-0.
