It’s not usual to see the defending NBA champions getting run off the floor on their own court in the playoffs.

For the most part, the Denver Nuggets have looked like the same dominant team they were last season, and most insiders thought they would come out of the Western Conference again this year.

Now, they have their backs against the wall, as they lost both of their home games to the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the series is now heading to the Twin Cities.

Things don’t look good at all for Mike Malone’s team.

Nonetheless, even knowing that it’s going to be an uphill battle and a huge grind, the Nuggets coach urged the fans to believe in them and stay with them for the remainder of the season (via Romi Bean).

It’s one thing to lose, and no one should be judged by that.

However, what no team can afford is to be outworked, outhustled, and manhandled.

The Timberwolves want it more, and it shows.

The Nuggets were just going through the motions and looked like the kind of team that hoped their talent and chemistry would bail them out, and that’s not the case against good, physical, and gritty teams like Minnesota.

Target Center is going to be roaring as soon as the ball goes in the air for Games 3 and 4, and winning back-to-back games in such a hostile environment won’t be an easy task.

Then again, they still have arguably the best player in the league, and you can never count out the champions.
