On Tuesday night at Ball Arena in the Mile High City, the defending NBA champion Denver Nuggets will start their title defense, as Nikola Jokic and company will play host to LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Of the two games set to be played to start the season on Tuesday, this is the one that everyone is looking forward to, as there’s some bad blood between these two teams after some trash-talking that took place once the Nuggets swept the Lakers during the Western Conference Finals.
That said, both teams will want to be at full strength heading into this game, as bragging rights will be on the line.
As of right now, Jarred Vanderbilt’s status is up in the air for the Lakers, while the Nuggets haven’t been certain about Michael Porter Jr.’s status until today.
According to Harrison Wind of DNVR Sports, Porter says he’ll be good to go for tomorrow’s game against the Lakers after dealing with an ankle sprain.
Michael Porter Jr. after practice just now: “I’m ready to go. Ankles take a while, but I’m ready to play…it was a Grade 3 ankle sprain.”

During his entire career with the Nuggets thus far, Porter has dealt with numerous injuries, which makes it no surprise that he’s already a big banged-up before the start of the season.
Fortunately for Denver, Mike Malone’s squad is fairly deep and has been able to play well even when Porter isn’t on the floor.
However, the Nuggets are clearly a much better team when the 25-year-old is on the floor, as he brings so much to the table, especially when he has it going from beyond the arc.
