Michael Thomas has not played a full NFL season since 2019 when he broke the single-season record for receptions.

Over the past three seasons, Thomas has only appeared in ten games, largely due to injury concerns.

Ahead of the 2023 season, Thomas recently posted a video where he deadlifted over 500 pounds.

After this video was posted, Thomas was selected for a drug screening, per his Instagram announcement, via Dov Kleiman.

Update: #Saints WR Michael Thomas was “randomly” drug tested after posting a video of himself deadlifting 530 this week.

This Instagram post also featured a personal comment from Thomas, saying “Feds did a sweep.”

If Thomas’ efforts are genuine and PED-free, he could be in line for a massive season for the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints haven’t found a long-term answer at quarterback since the retirement of Drew Brees, leaving receivers like Thomas in the balance.

However, given their recent signing of Derek Carr, the tides could quickly change for the organization.

Carr spent nine seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders but has joined the Saints in an attempt to get a fresh start.

He’ll have some help in his new location, especially if Thomas is back to full health.

The Saints also added Chris Olave in the 2022 draft, who is a highly-regarded prospect.

Heading into the 2023 campaign, the Saints are slated to look significantly different than they have in years prior.

Will their most recent additions, along with the alleged health of Thomas, be enough?

The NFC South could have four brand-new starting quarterbacks this season, which could give a marked advantage to the Saints, given Carr’s experience.
