Coming into the 2023-24 NBA regular season, the Phoenix Suns appeared to be a heavyweight in the Western Conference once again, with the team acquiring superstar guard Bradley Beal during the NBA offseason in a deal with the Washington Wizards that involved Chris Paul.

Although it seemed like a good move on paper, taking on Beal’s contract on top of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker’s was a risky proposition, especially if the superstar trio doesn’t work on the basketball floor.

The Suns went all in with the commitment to these three players and weren’t able to put much talent around them because of the financial commitment to Durant, Beal, and Booker, which turned out to be a disaster for Phoenix when they faced a well-balanced and talented Minnesota Timberwolves squad in the first round of the NBA playoffs.

After getting swept and embarrassed by the Timberwolves, the Suns fired head coach Frank Vogel and are desperately looking for an answer to the predicament they’ve put themselves in for the next few years.

ESPN’s Mike Wilbon believes the Suns’ roster is “fatally flawed,” and the team needs to trade one of its three stars during the NBA offseason.

“Their roster is flawed,” Wilbon said. “Fatally flawed.”

Needless to say, the Suns’ front office has some tough decisions to make this summer as they try to figure out how to fix this roster and potentially part ways with one of their best players to do so.

Only time will tell if this mess can be fixed over the summer and what this team will look like to start the 2024-25 campaign.
