The New York Knicks have a new star in town.

Trading for Mikal Bridges was one of the biggest moves of the offseason.

And while it might seem like they overpaid to get him, they could afford to do so.

Now, he’s reunited with his fellow Villanova teammates Josh Hart, Jalen Brunson, and Donte DiVincenzo, and it’ll be a very exciting time for Knicks fans.

With that in mind, the former Phoenix Suns star has officially decided to keep his No. 1 jersey, the same that he wore with the Brooklyn Nets (via SNY Knicks).

Bridges used No. 25 in high school, college, and with the Suns, but he’s been No. 1 since he took his talents to the Big Apple.

Bridges gives the Knicks another elite defender, not to mention a true iron man.

He’s never missed a game since he entered the league, and he even played 83 games in the regular season when he was traded from Phoenix.

That’s just what Tom Thibodeau wants from his players, as he’s infamous for playing them heavy minutes.

Then again, the Knicks have put together a team that’s deep enough to have multiple contributors and a long rotation, even in the playoffs.

More than that, his chemistry with his best friends and former teammates — whom he also won a championship in college with — shouldn’t be overlooked, and the Knicks are going to be a major problem for years to come.
