After a successful run with the Phoenix Suns, Mikal Bridges was traded to the Brooklyn Nets ahead of the NBA trade deadline, with superstar forward Kevin Durant headed to Arizona.
In his 27 games during the regular season with the Nets, Bridges proved to the basketball world that he’s a star on the rise and more than capable of being the No. 1 option for an NBA franchise, averaging 26.1 points per game for Brooklyn.
With Bridges now a star on the rise and set to help lead Team USA during the FIBA World Cup next month, many people have started showing interest in the rising star and how it all started for the Villanova product.
Initially, Bridges was drafted by the Philadelphia 76ers with the No. 10 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, which was a dream come true for him as he was from the city and his mom worked for the organization.
Well, that didn’t last too long, as he was traded to the Suns on draft night, and he reflected on how hard that was to deal with on the best night of his life on “Podcast P with Paul George.”

That’s a crushing blow for any basketball player that has his dream of making the league realized and playing for his hometown team.
Although things didn’t work out as planned for Bridges at the time, he now has a very bright future ahead as the face of the Nets franchise and could very well be the player the team builds around moving forward in Brooklyn.
