The Brooklyn Nets are coming off a tough season that saw them ending as the 11th team in their conference.
Because of that, some people assumed that Mikal Bridges didn’t want to play there anymore and demanded the trade that sent him to the New York Knicks.
But Bridges is adamant about that not being the case.
Speaking to Nets Video, Bridges plainly stated that he didn’t ask for a trade and was thankful that Nets general manager Sean Marks said the same.
“I’m happy that Sean [Marks] had a chance to tell everybody. No matter what you say, they ain’t gonna believe it anyways. I keep telling the truth,” Bridges said.

Brooklyn only mustered up a 32-50 record in 2023-24.
The team is clearly in flux, battling to find its identity in this post-Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving chapter.
Bridges was a huge help for the team and posted 19.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.
He played his heart out every single night and appeared in all 82 games, spending an average of 34.8 minutes on the floor.
This isn’t surprising to anyone who has been paying attention to Bridges over the years.
The Villanova graduate has been consistent since the start of his NBA career, at first during his five seasons with the Phoenix Suns and then throughout his time with the Nets.
Now he is moving onto the Knicks and things are looking very bright for him.
He definitely has better chances of reaching the Finals with New York but that doesn’t mean he fought to get out of Brooklyn.
Not only is Bridges very talented, but he’s also very loyal.
