The Sacramento Kings desperately needed a culture turnaround when they hired Mike Brown in the offseason.
Not only did he accomplish that, but he also became the first-ever unanimous Coach of the Year winner, per Yahoo Sports.

The coach got 100 out of 100 votes ahead of Mark Daigenault of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Joe Mazzulla of the Boston Celtics, who also deserved plenty of consideration.
Brown had been an assistant coach for Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors for six years, helping them win four NBA championships.
He also came with plenty of experience from his days coaching the Cleveland Cavaliers — where he was also named Coach of the Year — and the Los Angeles Lakers, but it’s safe to state that he exceeded all expectations in Sacramento already.
Brown was supposed to revamp the Kings’ ever-struggling defense, yet he wound up orchestrating the league’s most proficient offense, scoring 118.6 points per 100 possessions.
The Kings showed plenty of pride and fight in them, rallying together like a unit when things got difficult, and proving their doubters wrong by holding onto that third seed in the Western Conference.
They put an end to a league-worst 17-year playoff drought, and they’re now up 2-0 on the reigning champions and look like the kind of team that could put together a deep postseason run.
They’re young, up-and-coming, and hungry to earn the respect no one seemed to give them at the beginning of the season.
So, props to Mike Brown for pulling off what some thought was impossible: Developing a winning culture in the Sacramento Kings.
