Frank Vogel’s tenure with the Phoenix Suns was short-lived.
He was their fall guy, and while that wasn’t right at all, that’s just the way things go in this line of work.
Despite having a subpar defensive squad, Vogel had the Suns in the top half of the league in terms of defense.
In hindsight, Vogel and the Suns never stood a chance, and their issues ran deeper than coaching.
Even so, someone had to pay, and it sure wasn’t going to be Mat Ishbia, which is why they replaced him with Mike Budenholzer.
Notably, the former NBA championship coach didn’t waste a second to get the ball rolling in his home state.
According to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report, Budenholzer has already started cleaning house, and he’s informed some of Vogel’s assistants that he wouldn’t keep them around for the future.

Of course, this makes perfect sense, as coach Budenholzer has been around the league for quite a while, and he already has his confidants and assistant coaches.
Budenholzer took the year off after being fired by the Milwaukee Bucks just a couple of years after he won an NBA championship with them, once again showing the cruel and ruthless nature of the industry.
Even so, if the Suns don’t manage to make some significant roster changes, there’s only so much Budenholzer and his assistants will be able to do to turn things around.
