The Boston Celtics are going to be in for a tough challenge come Thursday night.

They’re the deepest, most rested, and healthier team, but they may not have the best player on the floor in this series.

The Dallas Mavericks have been on a roll since they acquired P.J. Washington and Daniel Gafford, and they have proven that they can get the job done on both ends of the floor.

That’s why lifelong radio personality Mike Francesa has some bad news for Celtics fans, as he believes the Mavericks will take care of them in six games.

Talking on SiriusXM NBA Radio, Francesa claimed that as much as he would love this to be an instant classic of a series and that we get seven games of this, he just doesn’t see that happening.

“I’m going to take Dallas in six [over Boston].”

He thinks both Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic will be at their best, stating that Doncic is going to tear the Celtics apart.

He also thinks the Mavericks have the best two players in this series, putting Irving a tier above Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown.

Truth be told, the Celtics have been the favorites to win the whole thing since before the start of the season, regardless of the opponent.

Nonetheless, given their history of shortcomings in big moments, and with the way the Mavericks are playing on both ends of the floor, he could be right on point.

Whether Tatum is a better player than Kyrie makes up for an interesting debate, but even the biggest Celtics fan should agree that Doncic is currently the best player in this series.
