The NBA broadcast community will lose one of it’s biggest and loudest representatives next season.
Recently, legendary power forward Charles Barkley claimed that next season would be his last on television.
He added that he had already made up his mind regardless of whether TNT managed to keep some of the broadcasting rights or not.
TNT has lost plenty of ground in negotiations to keep the NBA, and Barkley has been overly critical of the situation.
With that in mind, Mike Golic and Mike Golic Jr. debated whether this was, indeed, the end of the line for Chuck (via DraftKings Network).
Charles Barkley says next year will be his last as an analyst
“You believe that if someone throws a monster offer at him that he’s not going to do something?” @golic
“I don’t know, (he’s) always been someone pretty comfortable doing it & going his own way” @mikegolicjr pic.twitter.com/lPmYtbUkNx

Golic doesn’t think Barkley will be able to turn down a Godfather-like offer by another network, whereas Golic Jr. claimed that Barkley has always marched to the beat of his own drum, and it’s not like he needs the money.
Truth be told, Barkley has repeatedly talked about his desire to retire early, and he’s stated that he wouldn’t be working until old age.
Also, there were reports about multiple networks already being interested in making a run at him if TNT loses NBA broadcasting rights, so it’s not like he’s not aware of that.
Barkley has made a lot of money during his career, and it has come to a point in everybody’s life where he wants to focus on other things, such as family or just enjoying life.
It’ll be odd not to have Chuck or the Inside the NBA guys after 2025, but all good things eventually come to an end.
