Now that the Denver Nuggets have won the NBA championship, there’s been plenty of chatter about Nikola Jokic and his true impact on the court.
There’s no denying that Jokic possesses a unique skill set, being the first true point-center — if there’s such a thing — in the history of the league.
That’s why Mike Greenberg believes Jokic has now changed the way the game is going to be played, assessed, and looked out for by GMs, scouts, and analysts from now on.
“This postseason will become the one that changes the game. I think Nikola Jokic is going to do for the NBA something similar to what Steph Curry did for the game a decade ago.”

Similar to what Stephen Curry did when he broke out, making everybody in the league believe they needed to spread the floor and take as many threes as possible, Greenberg things people will now look all over the world for 7-foot-1 ball-handlers and playmakers.
He went on to predict that at one point in time, there will be at least 10 Jokic-like players walking on the face of the Earth, and all of them will be in the NBA.
That’s not far-fetched to think, although it’s not like finding guys who do what Jokic does is going to be easy.
Alperen Sengun and Domantas Sabonis have somewhat similar games in the sense they can also facilitate for others, but neither is the three-level scorer that Jokic is.
Moreover, Jokic’s basketball IQ is simply one of the highest in the league, as it takes more than just being a good passer to elevate and orchestrate the offense the way he’s done it for the past three seasons or so.
Still, Greenberg might as well be right.
