The New York Jets convinced Aaron Rodgers to request a trade.
Now, it’s up to them and the Green Bay Packers to work out compensation for his contract.
The Jets made it clear that they had no intention whatsoever of giving up their first-round pick this season, which is the 13th overall.
But the days and weeks go by, and we still haven’t heard anything about this trade going through.
Both teams are reportedly optimistic about sorting things out sooner rather than later, but with the NFL Draft just three weeks away, they might want to speed things up a little bit.
With that in mind, some believe that the Jets should also look ahead and plan for the future.
Rodgers is one of the greatest QBs in NFL history, and he can still play at an MVP level and turn the team into a Super Bowl contender.
But he’s not getting any younger, and retirement has been a thought in his mind for a couple of seasons now.
That’s why some think that the Jets could and should either take a QB like Anthony Richardson if he falls to 13th or trade back to land Hendon Hooker in the first round of the NFL Draft.
Needless to say, that didn’t sit well with bonafide Jets fan Mike Greenberg, who ranted on ESPN and called it the worst idea ever.
.@Espngreeny absolutely LOST IT thinking about the Jets taking another QB besides Aaron Rodgers

Greenberg is afraid the Jets could infuriate Rodgers by taking another QB in the first round, just like it happened with Jordan Love.
But then again, even an ego-driven guy like Rodgers should know that the team needs to get ready for the future, and they cannot afford to be one hit away from having Zach Wilson back under center.
