The NBA Finals could come to an end on Friday night and the Boston Celtics are hoping to make history and earn their 18th championship.
That means that now is a very good time to look back at previous championship series and reflect on the best of the best.
On “Get Up,” Mike Greenberg listed the five most dominant NBA title runs.
He started with the 1982-83 Philadelphia 76ers, followed by the 1988-89 Detroit Pistons, the 1990-91 Chicago Bulls, and the 2016-17 Golden State Warriors.
But listed above all of them was the 2000-01 Los Angeles Lakers, which featured a masterclass of basketball from Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal.

Each of those teams stormed through the playoffs and amazed fans with their skills and dominance.
Now the Celtics are hoping to join them.
If Boston is able to beat the Dallas Mavericks, it’ll mark the end of a very impressive season from them.
Since the start of 2023-24, the Celtics have been the best team in the entire league.
They were so good, in fact, that a lot of people said that anything short of a championship would be considered a big disappointment.
Now they are just one win away from claiming their 18th title and possibly joining this list of dominant NBA teams.
This has been a long time coming for the Celtics, who have been on the verge of claiming another banner for multiple seasons.
If they win, their next goal will be to return just as strong next season and try to create another NBA dynasty.
Will the 2023–24 Celtics be compared to these other historic teams if they beat the Dallas Mavericks?
