With Team USA trying to defeat the competition at the 2024 Paris Olympics, there’s been a lot of debate over who has been the best player for the national squad in the history of international competition.

There’s a long list of candidates, from Michael Jordan to Kobe Bryant to LeBron James to Carmelo Anthony, but if you ask former U.S. head coach Mike Krzyzewski, aka “Coach K,” he’d go with current Phoenix Suns superstar Kevin Durant.

During an appearance on “The Jim Rome Show,” the Duke coaching legend was asked about the best player to ever suit up for the United States in Olympic competition, and he said he believes it’s Durant.

“I think he is because of longevity and accomplishment,” Krzyzewski said. “Again, it’s unique, but the amount of points he has scored, he has scored a lot more than anyone else.”

With Durant working on a record-breaking fourth gold medal in these Olympics while being the Games’ all-time leading scorer, adding another 23 points against Serbia in the opener, it comes as no surprise that Krzyzewski would make the two-time NBA champion as his choice.

Now that Durant is 100 percent healthy and looking as good as ever after an incredible performance against Serbia, when he missed one shot, Team USA looks primed to run the table and stand atop the podium again with gold medals around their necks.
