The Dallas Cowboys have an embarrassment of riches when it comes to talented players on their roster.

They have drafted well in recent years, seemingly setting themselves up for the foreseeable future.

CeeDee Lamb has turned into one of the best wide receivers in the league, and Micah Parsons is already a top-three defender in many metrics.

Parsons’ strength as a defender is his elite athleticism, a trait that has served him well to this point.

With his athleticism in mind, head coach Mike McCarthy recently told reporter Jon Machota that Parsons could dominate at another position.

McCarthy indicated that Parsons would be a great running back, but said, “If Micah Parsons got hurt running the ball in practice, I would just walk out the front gate and keep walking.”

Cowboys coach Mike McCarthy said he believes Micah Parsons could probably play running back in the NFL, but don’t expect to see him get many carries going forward.

While Parsons could thrive in another role, McCarthy understands that the team needs him most on the defensive side of the ball.

Plus, as he mentioned, putting Parsons on the field in another position would likely be the end of his tenure as head coach.

The Cowboys pay running backs, specifically, for a reason, and using Parsons in that role would only increase his chances of injury.

This team has a lot to work through ahead of the 2024 season, especially because Dak Prescott or Lamb have not gotten contract extensions.

As fans wait to see what’s going to happen with those two contracts, they now have the image of what it would be like to have Parsons play running back.
