The Miami Dolphins looked like the team to beat for much of the 2023 season.
They had one of the most potent offenses in the league, and their defense seemed like it could hold up against any opponent, as long as the offense was doing its part.
Despite their strong play during the regular season, the Dolphins fell short in the playoffs, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round.
Unfortunately for the Dolphins, their first-round playoff loss isn’t a new phenomenon to the organization.
In fact, it has been 24 years since the Dolphins won a playoff game, an indication of how much the team has struggled in recent history.
While this fact could bring a coach down, Mike McDaniel seems to be embracing it, seeing this streak as a challenge to overcome.
He was recently interviewed by Sirius XM NFL, where he spoke about this streak.
“100% of the players on our team weren’t here for 24 years, yet we are gifted with a tremendous opportunity of bringing a fanbase a reward that’s 24 years old,” McDaniel said.

McDaniel understands that the fanbase is starving to see a playoff win, and wants nothing more but to provide that for them.
He is a well-respected coach by his players and fans, but at a certain point, personality only gets a coach so far.
The Dolphins need to start winning in the postseason, especially now that they have signed Tua Tagovailoa and Tyreek Hill to massive contract extensions.
