For a couple of hours at least, Tua Tagovailoa was the highest-paid quarterback in NFL history.

He was topped by Green Bay Packers star Jordan Love shortly after, but it was fun while it lasted.

Even so, $53 million a year and a grand total of $212 million over four years is still a lot of money.

That’s why there will be no patience or room for excuses in South Beach; it’s go time.

With that in mind, Miami Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel talked about his expectations for Tagovailoa and the offense (via FinsXtra).

Mike McDaniel on expectations on Tua Tagovailoa following the contract extension: “It’s something I know Tua’s very, very aware of… quite frankly, Tua’s shown me that throughout the entire off-season he knows what time it is.” (@MiamiDolphins) #GoFins pic.twitter.com/7FHWeXpObJ

Addressing the media, McDaniel stated that he fully trusts Tagovailoa to take care of business, stating that he’s well aware of the challenge and responsibility that comes with the kind of money he’s about to get.

The Dolphins have always had Tagovailoa’s back, so it wasn’t a surprise to see that they eventually reached an agreement with him.

This time, however, he’ll have to prove to be much better than his critics think he is.

Tagovailoa has struggled with injuries and inconsistency, and his subpar performances in cold weather could prove to be a major concern for the Dolphins for years to come.

Then again, he’s also been one of the main reasons why their offense has been so successful over the past couple of years, and they’ve been significantly better with him on the field.

This is just the kind of price you have to pay for a franchise quarterback nowadays.
