Mike Miller spent 17 years in the NBA and earned a slew of accolades, including Rookie of the Year in 2001, Sixth Man of the Year in 2006, and two championships with the Miami Heat.
He had the sort of career that many young players dream of and now has advice for young upstarts looking to make an impact on the league.
Speaking on “The OGs Show,” Miller said that players have to adjust their games for what’s best for their teams.
“Who you are when you first get in the league is not necessarily who you’re going to be,” Miller said, stating that NBA hopefuls have to change their plans based on what their squads require.

Miller said that some players come into the association thinking they will be a point guard for their entire career.
But that isn’t always the case.
Sometimes their teams need a shooting guard more than a point guard and a smart player will change their approach so they can better suit those needs.
Miller suggested that this is why he was able to have such a great career for so long.
He saw what his teams demanded and he modeled himself after that.
That led to strong runs with the Orlando Magic, Memphis Grizzlies, Heat, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Miller was a crucial part of the Heat’s back-to-back championships in 2012 and 2013.
He fit into the rotation perfectly because he delivered exactly what Miami needed.
Miller thinks that all youthful players should keep that in mind if they wish to earn their spot in the league.
