Offense has been an issue in Pittsburgh over the last few years.
The team has lacked consistency at the quarterback position, as well as in the offensive coordinator role.
After the team fired former offensive coordinator Matt Canada last season and moved on from both Kenny Pickett and Mason Rudolph earlier this offseason, they signed Russell Wilson to be the starting quarterback and brought in former head coach Arthur Smith to be the offensive coordinator.
The team also traded for former Bears quarterback Justin Fields.
Head coach Mike Tomlin recently spoke with the Pittsburgh media about how Smith is doing in his offensive coordinator role.
“I just like the energy and detail that he brings, the competitive spirit that he brings. It creates a really good environment. He’s doing a really good job of selling his system of football to the players,” Tomlin said.

The Steelers finished 25th in total offense last season (304.3 total yards per game) and 28th in scoring offense (17.9 points per game).
In a division with Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow, that is not good enough.
To bring in a nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback in Russell Wilson and another experienced offensive mind in Arthur Smith, these were two big moves for this team.
Before spending the last three seasons as the head coach of the Atlanta Falcons, Smith was the offensive coordinator of the Titans for a couple of seasons (2019-2020).
He helped make Derrick Henry an elite player and helped the Titans reach the AFC Championship Game in 2019.
Steelers fans should be excited about the improvement that their offense may show in 2024.
