The Pittsburgh Steelers have dealt with a lot this season, with the team dealing with a lot of injuries while also struggling on the offensive side of the football on a weekly basis, as second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett tries to find his groove on the NFL level for the storied franchise.
On Sunday, the Steelers went head-to-head against the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals in a game that they needed to win in order to remain in the playoff picture in the AFC, especially after losing to the Cleveland Browns last week.
Even though it wasn’t pretty by any means, Pickett and company were able to come out with the ugly win on Sunday on the road at Paycor Stadium in order to improve their record to 7-4 on the season.
Despite Pickett’s struggles throughout his sophomore campaign with the Steelers, he was able to do enough in Week 12 to lead the team to victory, which earned him some high praise from longtime head coach Mike Tomlin, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.
“Guys like myself and Kenny (Pickett)…Man, we’re judged based on winning and losing. And we don’t run from that. He and I are winners today,” Tomlin said.

Pickett completed 24 of 33 passes on Sunday for 278 yards with zero touchdowns and zero interceptions, which is a step in the right direction for the young quarterback.
The real question moving forward is whether Pickett will continue to play well enough against formidable opponents in order to clinch a playoff spot in the AFC this season.
The defense in Pittsburgh has been keeping this team afloat, and at some point, the team is going to need to lean on Pickett to get the job done offensively.
