The Pittsburgh Steelers have two new quarterbacks.
And while their games may have been similar at some point, Russell Wilson is no longer the scrambler he once was.
That’s why the team is getting some different looks with him and with Justin Fields, who’s one of the best in the league when it comes to doing damage with his legs.
That was particularly evident when coach Mike Tomlin talked about him.
In an interview for Kay Adams’ Up & Adams Show, the veteran coach admitted that he didn’t want to ‘squash’ his natural instincts or have him overthink; he wants him to play his game and feel comfortable within the flow of the offense (Via Caleb Williams Fan Club).

Notably, that seems like a no-brainer, but it was far from what Luke Getsy used to do when he was in charge of Fields and the offense.
Fields was clearly at his best when he was allowed to roll out, improvise, and make plays with his feet.
Instead, the Bears tried to turn him into something he never was, forcing him to stay in the pocket for way longer than he should’ve.
Simply put, it didn’t seem like the Bears ever put him in an actual position to succeed, not even when they gave him a legit No. 1 in DJ Moore.
Hopefully, that won’t be the case with Caleb Williams.
As for Fields, he might have a legitimate chance to take down Wilson and earn the starting quarterback spot in Pittsburgh.
