The Cleveland Browns made the most of a unique opportunity.

Not many people thought that Mike Vrabel would be available for hire, let alone not to be a head coach.

However, as much as most people were shocked to see that the Tennessee Titans let him go, he recently claimed that he wasn’t surprised (via Daryl Ruiter).

Vrabel stated that this was his 25th training camp, so nothing could surprise him in the National Football League anymore.

If anything, he was just angry about the fact that he couldn’t get to finish the job in the way he wanted to.

The 48-year-old was let go after back-to-back losing seasons.

He had led the team to four consecutive winning seasons since being appointed in 2018, including back-to-back divisional titles in 2020 and 2021.

The Browns hired him to be a consultant, and he talked about this being the right opportunity for him, getting to work with their scouts and decision-making in their pre-draft process.

He’s also reportedly working with tight ends and giving the offensive unit a different, defensive-oriented perspective.

Given the way he fared in Tennessee and how things usually go in this league, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him land a head coaching job sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, the Browns will make the most of his expertise in a different capacity.
