Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel has finally started interviewing for new jobs after the team fired him a few weeks ago.
Vrabel won’t be the New England Patriots head coach – that went to his former one-time Patriots teammate, Jerod Mayo – but he did reportedly interview with another team in desperate need of a facelift.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Vrabel met with the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday in his first formal head-coaching job interview.

The Chargers have also been linked to Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh, who interviewed with the team on Monday.
Vrabel would be an interesting fit in Los Angeles because he, like recently-fired Chargers head coach Brandon Staley, is a defensive-minded coach and the Chargers are a team looking for more offensive identity.
But Vrabel proved himself as a great culture-setter during his time in Tennessee where he led the Titans to the playoffs in three of his five seasons.
The staff Vrabel would hire would be crucial for the Chargers after the offense couldn’t get on track in 2023 before major injuries and the defense looked awful under Staley’s direction.
Los Angeles proved it could compete with the Kansas City Chiefs, but Staley appeared to be outmatched most of the time against superior coaches.
Vrabel, meanwhile, has beaten teams like the Chiefs in the past – especially during the 2021 season when the Titans finished with the No. 1 seed in the AFC.
Vrabel will undoubtedly interview with more teams before the offseason ends, but the Chargers would be a solid fit for the ex-Titans coach.
