It was a night to forget for Miles Mikolas.

The veteran right-hander took the mound for the St. Louis Cardinals in hopes of righting the ship after back-to-back outings in which he allowed five runs.

He started off well, but ultimately fell apart in the bottom of the fifth.

After he was done, St. Louis found themselves in a 6-2 hole.

Fortunately, the bats picked him up and scored seven unanswered runs for the team as they completed an epic comeback against the Colorado Rockies.

The Cardinals improved to 4-7 on the season and will look for a series win on Wednesday.

After the team’s come-from-behind victory, Mikolas spoke to the media and assessed his rocky performance.

Mikolas on his outing against the Rockies: “The offense really picked me up, we made some great defensive plays…. I didn’t pitch as well as I’d like to…. But some days you have bad games and I don’t get the win but the team does.” #stlcards pic.twitter.com/62ZSoiOy6z

Mikolas began by taking full responsibility for his mistakes against the Rockies, referencing an at-bat by Jurickson Profar that he said he let get away from him, which ended in a walk.

He also gave credit where credit was due, praising Ryan McMahon for being able to get to an inside pitch and hit it out of Coors Field for a three-run homer.

Mikolas then bemoaned a pitch he threw to C.J. Cron, which ended in a solo home run that made it a 5-2 game.

The veteran right-hander continued to comment on his performance, but he expressed his gratitude to the team for getting timely hits and picking him up when he needed it.

He also talked about the team’s defense and expressed his gratitude for some good plays that were made.

Mikolas now owns a 10.05 ERA on the season after three starts.
