Now that the 2022-23 NBA regular season has been concluded, the attention turns to the NBA playoffs as well as which players should win regular-season awards.
The one debate that has gotten a lot of headlines lately is which player in the league should be named NBA MVP for the 2022-23 campaign.
Most believe it is a two-man race for the MVP, with Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets and Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid being the two finalists.
With the Milwaukee Bucks being the top seed in the Eastern Conference and arguably the best team in the league right now, head coach Mike Budenholzer isn’t very happy about Giannis Antetonkoumpo not getting serious consideration, as he told Jim Rome of CBS Sports.

Budenholzer makes a simple argument here, but it’s hard to argue with his stance, as it should be what the NBA MVP award is based on.
The Bucks are arguably the best team in the league, and Antetokounmpo is, without a doubt, the best player on Milwaukee’s squad.
There’s no doubt that Jokic, who has won the regular-season award two years in a row, deserves the award as he nearly averaged a triple-double while leading the Nuggets to the top seed in the Western Conference.
Embiid was equally dominant this season, averaging a career-high 33.1 points per game this season while keeping Philadelphia as relevant as ever in the title-contender conversation in the NBA.
Fortunately for Antetokounmpo, the superstar has won the award twice before, so it’s not like he’s never been given the recognition, but Budenholzer’s frustration has merit.
