The NFL has experienced growing parity over the past several years, as there have been five unique champions over the past six years.
While there are teams that tend to make the playoffs more than others, the league has gotten more competitive as of late.
This is evidenced by a recent call-out from NFL Live, a show that airs on ESPN.
As they illustrate, there have been four-plus new playoff teams for the past 33 seasons.
In this segment, Mina Kimes revealed her top-four picks of new potential playoff teams.
.@minakimes‘ four potential new playoff teams in 2023:
Jets
Steelers
Lions
Falcons

Kimes highlighted the New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, Atlanta Falcons, and Detroit Lions.
The Jets have the longest active playoff drought, which spans 12 seasons.
Aaron Rodgers’ addition to this team has raised spirits, giving life to both the fanbase and the organization.
Kimes, along with many others, believe the quarterback position was the missing piece for the Jets, and that Rodgers will lead them to the promised land.
The Steelers will have their work cut out for them, given the strength of their division.
However, Kenny Pickett has been said to make significant strides in the offseason.
If he’s able to put it together, Kimes’ prediction has a better chance of coming true.
The Lions had one of the most potent offenses in the league last season.
If they’re able to figure things out on defense, they could tear through a Rodgers-less NFC North.
Of all the teams that Kimes mentioned, the Falcons have the biggest question marks.
Their quarterback position is up in the air, and their defense also struggled mightily last season.
Will this trend of four-plus new playoff teams continue into 2023?
