Opening Day was certainly a treat.
Now it’s time to continue on with the 2023 season.
However, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t certain issues with the way things stand.
For many years, a trend has taken place in which after Opening Day, an off day occurs before the series picks back up.
Over the years, fans have voiced their displeasure with the situation and the structure of the schedule.
On Twitter, Boston Red Sox analyst Thomas Carrieri echoed fans’ concerns with the current schedule format used by MLB, calling out the league for having teams take days off immediately following Opening Day despite a long offseason and spring training.
I hate that after a long offseason and Spring Training, they make you play one game and immediately give you the next day off. It’s such a tease because you’re ready for more baseball.

Ultimately, this is the way MLB has been doing things for the past several years, and fans have rarely hesitated to voice their displeasure with the situation.
Occasionally, certain teams will start with a four-game series or even play a three-game series without any days off in between the first two games.
However, it is not uncommon for an off day to occur between the first two games of the series.
This is the way Major League Baseball has operated for quite some time, which has caused fans to voice their displeasure.
Many believe it would make much more sense to not have an off day in between the first two games of the opening series.
Again, this is not always the case, but it has been a common practice by MLB for several years.
