In recent years, we have seen a massive increase in the number of women who are getting involved with the game of baseball.
Today is a special day in Major League Baseball, as the league celebrates Women’s Equality Day and honors the many women who have given so much to the game and are helping it grow into something special.
We have seen certain women take over coaching roles in Major League organizations.
Alyssa Nakken and Rachel Balkovec are two prominent figures who come to mind.
Nakken is a coach with the San Francisco Giants, while Balkovec is a minor league manager for the New York Yankees.
The game has also seen several women take over in front office roles, such as Miami Marlins General Manager Kim Ng.
On Twitter, MLB posted a heartfelt message to celebrate the women in our game and what they bring to the table.

Baseball has always been a special game.
But with more women joining the fold, the playing field is becoming more equal.
There is still plenty of work to be done, but baseball has taken several steps forward in recent years.
In MLB’s tweet, a graphic is featured which reveals several important pieces of information.
The number of women in coaching roles has risen from just one in 2019 to 19 this year.
Of those women, 11 are alumni of “Take The Field,” a program that seeks to empower women who may be interested in front office roles.
There is still plenty of work to do, but baseball is making strides.
