The trade deadline is now less than two weeks away.

As is the case at every deadline, pitching is a hot commodity.

It’s also at quite a premium, but there will be several contending teams that come calling for pitching help.

One such pitcher on the market is left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez, who is making the start tonight for the Detroit Tigers as they face off against the Kansas City Royals.

Rodriguez will be making his third start since returning from the injured list.

On Twitter, Jon Morosi of MLB Network noted that the veteran left-hander is going to have tons of eyes on him tonight as he starts for the Tigers.

Lots of eyes on Tigers LHP Eduardo Rodríguez in KC tonight, as he makes his 3rd start since returning from the IL.

Rodríguez is one of the top starting pitcher trade candidates in @MLB this year. His 2.70 ERA ranks 4th in the Majors among those with 70+ IP.@MLBNetwork

Rodriguez joined the Tigers on a five-year deal prior to the 2022 season.

He has an opt-out clause at the end of the year that he is likely to exercise, which would make him a free agent.

He would also purely be a rental for any team that attempts to acquire him.

Rodriguez owns a record of 5-5 and has an ERA of 2.70 on the season.

That ranks fourth in the Major Leagues among starters with at least 70 innings pitched.

And so, there will be several teams that may look to find a fit for Rodriguez.

The New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, and Boston Red Sox are a few teams that could use a starter at the deadline.

This could prove to be Rodriguez’s last start as a member of the Tigers as the trade rumors begin to swirl.
