The New York Yankees won 99 games last season and earned their first American League East title since 2019.
They ended up reaching the ALCS, where they were swept by the Houston Astros.
However, given recent events, the Yankees may be in a precarious position.
After losing in excruciating fashion on Sunday against the Miami Marlins, the Yankees are now just two games above the .500 mark and are five games back in the Wild Card race.
They are also 13 games out of first place in the AL East.
On Twitter, Jon Heyman noted that now is crunch time for the Yankees and that they’ll need to fix some things if they want to return to the postseason.
Yankees are in last place, 5 out of the Wild Card heading to play the Braves. 44 games to go but they are missing 3 starters (Rodon, Cortes, German) and are a bottom third hitting team. Need a miracle now.

Heyman noted that on Monday, the Yankees will start a three-game series against the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.
As the Yankees begin this series, it is important to note that they are without three of their top starting pitchers at the moment.
Right-hander Domingo German is on the restricted list for the remainder of the season, and Carlos Rodon and Nestor Cortes are both on the injured list.
New York is also a bottom-third hitting team, as they are 21st in all of baseball in runs scored, having only pushed across 511 runs on the season.
And so, now is the time for the Yankees to pull off a miracle if they plan on reaching the postseason for a seventh consecutive year.
This series against the Braves is a crucial one in terms of where they are in the standings.
