In a 162-game season, so many things can happen.
We’ve seen some crazy moments take place over the last several years.
Sometimes, a team will go on a wild winning streak and overcome seemingly insurmountable odds, while another team goes on a slide and loses their grip on their season.
Anything can happen in baseball, as so many always say.
Such is the case in the National League West.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are an interesting case.
Seven weeks ago, they found themselves in third place in the division.
However, things have changed since then, and they have leapfrogged the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks.
On Twitter, Bob Nightengale pointed out just how quickly things have changed for the reigning NL West champions.
What a difference 7 weeks make:
June 18: The #Dodgers were in 3rd place in the NL West, 4.5 games behind the Arizona #Dbacks.
Aug. 9: The Dodgers sweep the D-backs, 2-0, and now lead the NL West by 6 games over the #SFGiants and 11 games over the D-backs.
Magic Number: 43.

Back on June 18, the Diamondbacks led the NL West and had one of the better records in the National League.
Meanwhile, the Giants and Dodgers were behind them in that order.
This led some to speculate that maybe a new champion would be crowned in the NL West.
However, fast forward seven weeks and it’s the Dodgers once again who are at the top of the division.
The Dodgers were once 4.5 games back of the D-Backs.
Now, they lead the Giants by six games and the D-Backs by 11.
The NL West has certainly been an interesting division, to say the least.
But just when it looked like the Dodgers had run out of gas, they got hot again and are continuing to prove that they are the kings of the NL West.
