It’s no secret that the baseball world is truly blessed to have somebody as talented and unique as two-way star Shohei Ohtani.

On Tuesday, he helped guide the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-2 win, striking out 10 batters while also hitting two home runs.

Ohtani is having yet another unforgettable season and is on pace to potentially win yet another American League MVP award.

He currently owns a 5.7 fWAR, which is the highest mark in all of baseball.

On Twitter, Buster Olney of ESPN pointed out an interesting fact, that Ohtani has a higher fWAR than both Kevin Gausman and Ronald Acuna Jr., who lead in the category for pitchers and hitters, respectively, all while making just $30 million this season.

Kevin Gausman leads all pitchers with 3.5 fWAR.
Ronald Acuna Jr. leads position players in fWAR, 4.3.
Ohtani has 5.7 fWAR, hitting/pitching combined, leading MLB in HR, RBI, SLG, Adjusted OPS+ total bases (200), opp. avg., K/9. He’s making $30m and he’s the biggest bargain.

This ultimately makes Ohtani the biggest bargain in all of baseball.

The phenom’s fWAR accounts for both his pitching and hitting stats.

He leads all of baseball in home runs, RBI, slugging percentage, adjusted OPS+, total bases, opponent average, and strikeouts per game.

The fact that he is only making $30 million this year ultimately goes to show just how big of a steal Ohtani was for the Angels when they signed him back in 2017.

He will be a free agent at the end of the season and is expected to receive a record contract by whichever team ultimately signs him.

Soon, he won’t simply be a bargain and will likely be one of, if not the highest-paid player in all of baseball.

For now though, the Angels have the benefit of only having to pay him $30 million while he dominates in seemingly every category.
