This weekend marks the annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and this year, the Hall of Fame has two new members.
Both Scott Rolen and Fred McGriff are set to be officially enshrined in Cooperstown once and for all.
McGriff played with the Toronto Blue Jays, San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Cubs, and Los Angeles Dodgers.
But 30 years ago this month, a famous trade took place as the Braves landed the “Crime Dog” in a trade with the Padres.
On Twitter, Jon Morosi of MLB Network recalled this impactful trade and how it helped the Braves down the stretch.
In Cooperstown, a Trade Deadline thought:
GMs dream of making a move as impactful as the trade the @Braves made 30 years ago this month.

With the trade deadline approaching, now is a good time to remember some of the most famous deadline deals.
This trade ultimately involved a Hall-of-Famer.
After acquiring McGriff, the Braves went on an absolute tear, going 51-17 the rest of the way and barely sneaking past the San Francisco Giants to capture the National League West title.
The Braves wouldn’t make it too far in the playoffs, but two years later, McGriff helped guide the team to a World Series title.
In the end, the trade worked out quite well for the Braves, but it had an immediate impact on the club when it was made back in 1993.
Atlanta began to surge and just barely managed to take the division title.
McGriff helped guide the Braves to many years of success.
After the Braves won it all in 1995, McGriff helped guide them back to the Fall Classic again in 1996.
