The 2023 season has been full of twists and turns.
At the beginning of the year, many were expecting teams like the San Diego Padres and New York Mets to be clear postseason and World Series contenders.
On the other hand, not much was expected out of the Cincinnati Reds and Miami Marlins.
However, the script has been completely flipped this year.
The Reds and Marlins are set to be buyers at this year’s trade deadline, while the Mets have already begun selling.
New York and Miami made a trade late last night which sent veteran reliever David Robertson to Florida.
On Twitter, MLB insider Bob Nightengale pointed out the madness of this season and how things have completely changed.
You know the baseball world has turned upside down when the #Marlins are buyers and the #Mets are sellers with outfielders Tommy Pham and Mark Canha expected to follow David Robertson out the door.

The Mets had a very busy offseason, adding pieces such as Justin Verlander, Jose Quintana, and Kodai Senga.
However, injuries have caused some problems for the Mets, and the team has played quite poorly this year, well below expectations.
Nightengale predicts that New York may send outfielders Tommy Pham and Mark Canha on their way in the coming days.
By contrast, the Marlins are buying for a change, which was not expected at the beginning of the season.
Yet it’s the Mets who are now taking the Marlins’ place, languishing in fourth place in the National League East, while also sitting seven games out in the Wild Card race.
Robertson was traded last night, and more trades are likely coming for the Mets, who have been one of baseball’s most disappointing teams this year.
