On Monday, the Cincinnati Reds turned to their No. 6 prospect in left-hander Andrew Abbott, hoping to stop a four-game losing skid.

The young lefty gave the Reds six scoreless innings against the Milwaukee Brewers and earned his first career win as he worked around four walks and allowed just one hit.

The 24-year-old also struck out six Brewers hitters as the Reds earned a 2-0 victory at Great American Ballpark.

After the game, MLB Network analyst and former star pitcher Al Leiter was duly impressed with Abbott’s work and even went as far as to say that when he watched the lefty pitch, he saw a lot of similarities to Tom Glavine.

Glavine won two Cy Young Awards during his legendary career and received 10 All-Star nods.

Leiter pitched most of his career with the New York Mets, but was briefly teammates with Glavine.

This is some high praise coming from Leiter.

Abbott certainly was on target against the Brewers on Monday and delivered a much-needed win for the Reds as they snapped their four-game losing skid.

But to receive this type of praise from an MLB legend is quite something.

Glavine ended up being inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown in 2014.

Abbott was ranked as the No. 95 prospect in all of baseball before his start against the Brewers.

With his dominant outing, he showed why he was ranked so high as he kept the Brewers at bay in the series finale.

Clearly, Leiter likes what he saw from Abbott and believes big things are coming.
