It’s been 22 years since the All-Star Game last took place in Seattle.
However, tonight, that will change.
It will a matchup between the best of the best in the American League and National League to determine which league truly has the most elite talent.
In 2001, the All-Star Game was in Seattle at Safeco Field, which now is T-Mobile Park.
That All-Star Game was the final one for Baltimore Orioles legend and Hall-of-Famer Cal Ripken Jr.
Ripken homered in that game and was the MVP of the game.
On Twitter, MLB posted a video to reminisce about Ripken’s final All-Star Game and included moments of him tipping his cap to the crowd.

It certainly has been a while since Seattle hosted the All-Star Game.
The last time that took place, something special happened with Ripken.
The Hall-of-Famer and Orioles legend won’t be around to play in this year’s tilt between the American League and National League, but his legendary moments in his final All-Star Game certainly will not be forgotten.
Ripken received a ton of love from the crowd in Seattle, as well as from his fellow All-Stars and teammates.
There likely won’t be any retirement ceremonies or farewells in tonight’s game, as none of the current All-Stars are set to retire at season’s end.
But that won’t take away from how special the All-Star Game truly is and what an unforgettable night it will turn out to be.
The 2001 All-Star Game was one to remember as Ripken appeared in his final Midsummer Classic.
