Under owner Daniel Snyder, the Washington Commanders were one of the worst teams in the NFL, as he did very little to make the storied franchise better in any way and made the environment in the nation’s capital very difficult and uncomfortable for the people who worked for the team and the players on the field.

Fortunately for the Commanders, Snyder finally sold the team to a group determined to right the ship and change the narrative in Washington.

So far, new owner Josh Harris and his ownership group, which includes Magic Johnson, have done a decent job trying to get the Commanders back on track. That includes selecting reigning Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Even though the Commanders may now be heading in the right direction, players who used to play for the team still hold a grudge and aren’t fond of what happened during their time there.

One of those players is star defensive lineman Montez Sweat, who recently opened up about his experience in Washington.

“It was a toxic, heavy toll, just losing and people around you being kinda OK with losing,” said Sweat, via the Chicago Sun-Times’ Jason Lieser.

With the Commanders trading him to the Chicago Bears during the 2023 season, Sweat has been able to start fresh on a promising young team, but he clearly won’t forget his time in Washington, nor should he.

As for the Commanders, there’s no telling what the future will hold, but drafting Daniels and hiring Dan Quinn as head coach look to be steps in the right direction.
