By now, nobody doubts that Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts is one of the best players in MLB.
He can do it all on a baseball field: he has a fantastic hit tool, he has considerable power and speed, he is athletic, he has a fine glove, and a good arm.
Speaking about his defense, we know he is outstanding in the outfield corners: there are Gold Glove awards that prove it.
However, it’s important to point out he came up as a second baseman during his Boston Red Sox days in the early-to-mid 2010s.
And, in addition to that, the Dodgers have been using him as a shortstop on occasion.
In fact, he has started 48 games in the outfield this year (some of them in center), 13 at second base, and nine at shortstop.
The sample size is too small to conclude he is a Gold Glover at shortstop, but one thing is true: he has looked very, very good there.
Here is a glimpse of what he can do:

It’s important to point out just how natural he looks: his movements are fluid, he made a quick transition and throw to second base, and said throw was accurate.
In other words, you can see he is very good at playing both middle infield positions.
It shouldn’t really surprise us because Betts has proven time and time again that he is a natural athlete with experience and skills in multiple sports.
He is worth every penny of the long-term contract the Dodgers signed him to.
