The Los Angeles Lakers weren’t expected to be a contender this season.
They stumbled through the first half of the campaign before turning things around after the NBA’s trade deadline.
Now, all of a sudden, multiple fans and analysts love their chances of putting together a deep playoff run, as their new-look roster has meshed quite well.
Nonetheless, ESPN analyst Jason Fitz would rather pump the brakes on this team.
Following their loss to the Los Angeles Clippers, Fitz stated that there’s no way they’re going to get out of the first round of the playoffs, mostly because every team ahead of them has fared better.

That’s a valid assessment right there.
The Sacramento Kings lack playoff experience and are a young team, and it’s a short trip, so they might as well be the only team they could have a realistic shot at upsetting.
The Memphis Grizzlies have been quite consistent for most of the season, and the Phoenix Suns are undefeated with Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Chris Paul on the floor.
As for the Denver Nuggets, not only do they hold a huge homecourt advantage and arguably the most proficient starting lineup in the league, but they’re also the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference for a reason.
Even so, LeBron James and Anthony Davis are an elite duo, so there’s still a chance that they could put together a historic run and silence the doubters once and for all.
But as of now, it doesn’t seem that likely.
